Kriete’s knack of describing events from her life painted vivid images that oscillated between hilarious and heart wrenching. The reader joins her on a journey that introduces a myriad of characters, and you experience each person and the impact they had on her. Kriete is vulnerable, honest and engaging as she describes the journey of her younger years. Though she openly shares her challenges, tragedies and regrets, I experienced hope and optimism as I read the book- joining her on a journey that overcame.

WOW!!! I just finished Paradise Road by Marilyn Kriete and all I can say is Wow!! I literally read it in one evening straight through because once I started I could not put it down. Marilyn’s life story is so full of adventure and unexpected twists and turns that if I had not known her I would have thought that this book was fiction. It is a beautiful story written with such intelligence and wit. I laughed, I cried, I even wept as my heart was drawn in and deeply moved. Marilyn’s story has renewed my faith in God and the mysterious and adventurous ways in which He moves in order to bring us to Him. My spirit was lifted and encouraged in ways that I have not felt in a very long time. This is a must read for anyone who is struggling to understand his or her path in life and is wanting to find the way. Marilyn, thank you so much for sharing your story. It is truly inspiring.

From the first page I was delighted by this wonderful memoir which took me back to the 70’s and proceeded through a number of years of wild adventure full of hurt, longing, heartbreak, joy, surprise, exhilaration, and excitement…I felt like I was participating in the adventure of the author… I found it to be enthralling. Paradise Road is a page-turner. Easy to digest, the personal and poignant memoir is a story of love, loss, grief, relationship, biking adventures, and finally a spiritual found-ness. This heartwarming memoir had me laughing and aching along with the protagonist. As an added bonus, I was inspired to try road cycling!
